As Trump Closes In On Syria, Here Are The 10 Safest Countries To Live In Case WWIII Breaks Out

There is a very real risk of World War Three breaking out. The Doomsday Clock is the closest that it’s ever been to midnight, and the most powerful man in the world, Donald Trump, has just said that he will launch America’s powerful arsenal at Syria.

This came after Putin said that Russia would shoot down any missiles fired at Syria in response to a supposed chemical weapons attack. In response, Trump told Russia to prepare for the launch of America’s “nice and new and smart” missiles.

While the exact type of missiles that Trump intends to launch are unknown, his words have caused many people to believe that WWIII is imminent – although, admittedly, this is not the first time Trump has caused people to worry about an impending war.

Should WWIII break out, many places, including the United States, will automatically become targets for other countries’ missiles depending on their allegiances. However, not every country in the world will necessarily get involved in the event of WW3.

Check out the video below to discover some of the safest places to live if a war breaks out:

Because technology is so much more advanced than it was during World War Two, a third world war could potentially have catastrophic consequences, with nuclear weapons causing damage that could irrevocably change life on Earth as we know it.

So great is the threat of war that a top Russian military commander, Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov, has spoken out against it, saying, “I hope for the reason and ability of politicians to negotiate – both ours and the US. We must not allow war.”

On that note, here are the 10 safest places to flee to should Putin and Trump fail to put their differences to the side for the sake of humanity…

10. Ireland

Military neutral since the 1930s, it is unlikely that the Emerald Isle will change its stance. With rolling green hills and pints of delicious Guinness, Ireland is a great place to live should you want to decrease the effect that nuclear fallout will have on your life.

9. Switzerland

On the subject of military neutrality, Switzerland has the longest history of this stance, establishing it during the Treaty of Paris in 1815. As a result, the country hadn’t got involved in any conflict since then. Better still, its mountains are fortified against invasion, so it really is pretty safe.

8. Slovenia

Slovenia almost completely avoided involvement in the last two world wars, and, unlike most other countries, it’s particularly self-sufficient because of its thermal, solar and hydroelectric power sources, which means it wouldn’t need to reach out to other nations for energy should WW3 break out.

7. Fiji

When it comes to escaping global conflict, what could be better than a tropical island in the South Pacific? Geographically, it’s very isolated and it isn’t landlocked. Fiji’s government has typically kept out of global conflicts too, so it’s unlikely they would get involved in WW3.

6. Denmark

Although there’s a chance Denmark could get dragged into WW3 because it’s a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, which basically means it’s on Europe’s side, it is home to Greenland, which is a politically unaligned and remote region – so flee there.

5. Austria

There are 163 countries on the Global Peace Index and Austria comes in at number four, despite being in fifth place on this list. The index ranked countries by areas of conflict, militarisation and society and security and it scored less than 1.5 out of five.

4. Portugal

Number three on the Global Peace Index, Politico has described Portugal as “an oasis of stability”. Sounds like a good shout to me.

3. New Zealand

Just like Slovenia, New Zeland is a pretty self-sufficient country with half of its power being hydroelectric, but it also has incredibly fertile land, which would make food production a lot easier should it get cut off from other countries during a war.

2. Canada

Ranked as the eighth most peaceful country in the world by the Global Peace Index, Canada scored 1.1 out of five on the domestic and international conflict scale, which, in real terms, means that when it comes to war, it’s one of the least involved countries in the world.

1. Iceland

The top spot on the Global Peace Index and on this list goes to Iceland. It’s also geographically distanced from the countries likely to be big players in WW3, so the odds of suffering badly from nuclear fallout are a lot lower there. Iceland is pretty beautiful too, which is a real bonus.

So there you have it, the 10 safest countries in the world to live in should global tensions reach tipping point. However, we can only echo Admiral Komoyedov’s words and hope that Putin and Trump put their differences to the side so that a war does not break out.
